How to Configure Advanced Settings

A guide to configuring a ZeroLock® Agent’s Advanced Settings.

Regardless of the installation method, the following settings must be made. These settings configure the installation methods to connect to the Collector and automatically assign an Endpoint Group and a Configuration Profile. The Collector is the ZeroLock® Management Console (ZMC) service to which the endpoint authenticates and communicates.

From the ZMC, navigate to Deploy on the left side menu which opens the screen below.

  1. Click on Advanced Settings.
    Deploy - Default No1_v3.x

  2. On the Advanced Settings screen, clicking on the drop-down menu for Environment reveals three (3) options as shown below. Each environment comes with a different installation script. For this example, we will replace the default with the ESXi environment. This is accomplished by selecting ESXi from the Environment drop down list.
    1.  Default – The default Endpoint group and Configuration profile are assigned at installation. This environment provides the most agent installation methods of all the environments used for base Linux installations.
      1.  Copy/Paste - Curl or Wget
      2.  Download - Self-Extracting and Tar Installer
      3.  Container – Docker and AWS ECS
    2. ESXi – Use this setting when installing an ESXi 6.7, 7.x, or 8.x endpoint. This environment option will automatically change the script to fit the ESXi installation requirements. Using the Signed Component Installer is considered the ValiCyber best practice. NOTE: Only supported on ZeroLock Agents x or later.
    3.  Air Gapped – Use this setting if your endpoints do not have internet access. NOTE: Only supported on ZeroLock Agents v3.x or later.
      1.  Copy/Paste – Curl and Wget
      2.  Download – Self-Extracting and Tar installer
  3. Select the ZeroLock Agent Version you want to use from the drop-down menu.
  4. The Endpoint Profile option allows the installer to assign a created Configuration profile to an endpoint during installation.
  5. The Endpoint Groups option allows the installer to assign a created Endpoint Groups to an endpoint during installation.
  6. Enter the Collector IP address(s) or the FQN of the ZMC server.
  7. Click the Save as Default button to save the information.

You will be returned to the Deploy screen. Notice how Default has been replaced by ESXi and both the Copy/Paste and Container installation options are gone. Additionally, there is now only the Component Installer option available in Download.

Congratulations, you have successfully configured the Advanced Settings and are ready to continue with the ZeroLock Agent installation.
