vCenter baselines are critical tools for ensuring that your VMware infrastructure remains secure, up to date, and fully compatible with the latest VMware software releases and updates.
A vCenter Baseline refers to a set of pre-defined criteria used to evaluate and manage the compliance status of VMware ESXi hosts, virtual machines, and other components within your vSphere environment. Baselines are primarily used for ensuring that your infrastructure components are up to date with the latest security patches, bug fixes, and updates provided by VMware.
- From the ZeroLock Management Console select Deploy then Advanced Settings. Ensure the Environment is set to ESXi. Select Save as Default.
Note: Only Agent Versions with Signed Components will listed.
When returned to the Deploy page, download the component installer .zip file by clicking it. - From the vCenter open the Lifecycle Manager. This may be done by selecting Lifecycle Manager from the drop-down menu on the left of your screen or by opening it from the Shortcuts screen.
- Once on the Lifecycle Manager page, under the ACTIONS menu select Import Updates.
This will open the Import Updates file selection dialog box. Once there, use BROWSE to select the .zip file containing the signed ZeroLock Agent component downloaded in step 1.
After this step, the signed ZeroLock Agent component may be attached to a baseline. - To create a baseline containing the signed ZeroLock Agent component you must first select the Baselines tab then NEW followed by Baseline.
On the Create Baseline screen enter the baseline's name, select Extension, then NEXT. Unless a name is entered you will be unable to click NEXT.
For Select Extensions, select the ZeroLock Runtime extension, then click NEXT.
In the Summary section, select FINISH and you will have successfully created a Baseline with a signed ZeroLock Agent Component.
