How To Upgrade the ZeroLock® Agent Version on an Endpoint

ZeroLock does not automatically apply upgrades. Release notes are included with upgrades so you can understand what was changed and decide when, or if, to upgrade. You can also control which systems get upgraded, allowing you to implement A/B testing.

It is simple to upgrade a ZeroLock Agent (ZA) using the ZeroLock Management Console (ZMC) and once installed, an agent version can be applied.

Note: This method does not apply to ESXi.  Agent upgrade instructions for ESXi may be found here:

  1. On the Endpoints page, select the endpoint you wish to change the agent version on.  Then click on the Actions dropdown button. In the image below, the agent version is 3.1.16, as shown at the end of the row for Endpoint #2.

  2. On the dropdown menu, select Update Agent Version.

  3. Choose the version you want to install from the Update Agent Version dropdown then click Update. In the example, we will change to the 3.1.17 release.

  4. The status for the endpoint will change to RED, indicating the agent has shut down.  It will then briefly be yellow as it is unconnected, then, once the upgrade is completed, the status will be GREEN, and you will see the updated agent version at the end of the row.

NOTE:  The ZeroLock upgrade process will check to ensure no other upgrades are being performed on the endpoint.  If the ZeroLock upgrade process cannot get the lock to upgrade, it will leave the current version of the ZeroLock agent installed and not attempt the upgrade on the endpoint.
